Elsewhere, tin also slipped followed by select copper and brass owing to lower offtake from industrial users.
On the global front, nickel tumbled to near six year lows in early trade at the LME, on the back of momentum selling and was set to end the month down nearly 10 percent, as weak stainless steel demand and record supply pummelled prices.
Nickel dipped by Rs 40 per kg to Rs 955 from Monday's closing level of Rs 995 and tin dropped by Rs 1,350 from Rs 1,360.
Copper armiture and copper sheet cutting also softened by a Re per kg to Rs 430 and Rs 425 respectively.
