Nickel rises on global cues

Nickel prices rose by Rs 5 per kg on the local non-ferrous base metals market today on increased demand from consuming industries amid a firm global trend.
Traders said buying activity nickel picked up after the metal climbed the most in two weeks in global markets as an export ban by Indonesia and the risk of sanctions against Russia raised concern that supplies will be crimped.
Meanwhile, nickel for delivery in three months rose 2.2 per cent to USD 16,230 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital, nickel (4x4) rose by Rs 5 to Rs 1,055-1,056 per kg.
The following were today's metal rates per kg:
Zinc ingot 117-123, nickel plate (4x4) 1,055-1,056 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 434, chadri deshi 285.
Lead ingot 134, lead imported 132, aluminium ingots 146, Aluminium sheet cutting 147, aluminium wire scrap 149 and aluminium utensils scrap 146.
