Rapper Nicki Minaj has delayed production on her autobiographical TV series so she can take time to get it right.
The "Starships" hitmaker announced plans to develop a family drama based on her childhood in her adopted hometown of Queens, New York and her rise to fame in September, 2015, and the show had been expected to premiere at the end of this year.
However, Minaj, 33, has since decided to push back the project so she and her fellow producers at America's ABC network can perfect the pilot before forging ahead with the rest of the series, reported Contactmusic.
During an interview on radio show "The Breakfast Club," she explained, "It's postponed because a lot of things were happening in the same time (sic). Creatively we wanted to make some changes with the pilot. We're taking our time. Everyone involved wants it to be perfect... There were other things that needed to be figured out first."
Minaj had previously shared casting details with fans via Instagram, announcing up-and-coming child star Ariana Neal, who has appeared in the films "Get Hard" and "Fruitvale Station", will portray the young Nicki onscreen, while model-turned-actress Selita Ebanks has landed the part of her mother, Grace.
"The Originals" star McCarrie McCausland and Wesley Jonathan from "The Soul Man" are also part of the cast, while "Ghost" star Whoopi Goldberg will make a guest appearance as Minaj's neighbour, Miss Martha.
A new air date has not been announced.
