The 37-year-old singer-actress will portray Penny Johnson, the role made famous by Cynthia Rhodes in the 1987 film, said the Hollywood Reporter.
"Little Miss Sunshine" star Abigail Breslin will tackle Jennifer Grey's Frances 'Baby' Houseman character, while Debra Messing will play her mum, Marjorie, and Colt Prattes will take over the part of Johnny Castle from the late Patrick Swayze.
Details surrounding the release date of the TV movie have yet to be revealed.
