Nifty ends at all-time closing high of 8,914.30

An upward march in CNX Nifty continued for the 9th day today scaling a new all-time closing high of 8,914.30 on persistent buying in select counters on the back of sustained foreign capital inflows into equity market.
The CNX 50-share Nifty resumed slightly lower at 8,902.75, but immediately climbed to a life-time high of 8,985.05 on initial strong buying before finishing at all-time closing high of 8,914.30, disclosing a gain of 3.80 points or 0.04 per cent.
The Nifty has gained by 636.75 points of 7.69 per cent in the 9 days.
Meanwhile, Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 953.50 crs yesterday as per provisional data from the stock exchanges.
Major gainers were Dlf, HclTech, Asian Paints, HDFC and Bpcl, while losers were Bharti Airtel, SSLT, Kotak bank, Tata Motor and Larsen.
Turnover in the cash segment jumped to Rs 22,506.65 crs from Rs 21,480.34 crs yesterday. A total of 9,804.72 lakh shares as against 9,068.26 lakh shares changed hands in 87,98,605 trades. The market capitalisation at NSE stood at Rs 101,97,657 crore.
