Nifty extends gains, soars 58 points

NSE Nifty rose for the third day by 58 points following sustained buying mainly in metal, realty, IT, media and auto counters on the back of strong capital inflow coupled with positive global cues.
While FMCG sector was the only sole loser for the day.
The 50-share NSE Nifty, gained 57.50 points, or 0.65 per cent to conclude at 8,879.20, it hovered between 8,886.25 and 8,809.80. The broader Nifty ended above the key 8,850-level.
Overseas, European stocks advanced with gains in banks and phone companies outweighing a slide in Unilever NV. Most Asian stocks rose as investors await further details from US President Donald Trump on his economic policies, including tax reforms. China' Shanghai composite gained 1.18 per cent.
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net a whopping Rs 8,043.14 crore last Friday, provisional data showed.
It saw an intra-day movement of about 76.45 points.

On the sectoral front, metal rose by (2.07 per cent) followed by realty (1.43 per cent), IT (1.37 per cent), media (0.96 per cent), auto (0.62 per cent) and bank (0.61 per cent), while FMCG dipped by (0.03 per cent).
Major index gainers were Tata Steel 4.03 per cent, TCS 3.92 per cent, BPCL 3.13 per cent, Gail 2.72 per cent and Idea 2.41 per cent.
However, Axis Bank fell 1.65 per cent, followed by Bosch Ltd 0.92 per cent, Yes Bank 0.81 per cent, ITC 0.78 per cent and Tech 0.71 per cent.
A total of 589 scrips declined, 1054 advanced, while 81 remained unchanged. Total securities that hit their price bands were 109.
Turnover in the cash segment fell to Rs 19,603.70 crore, from Rs 35,434.95 crore last Friday.
A total of 12,039.63 lakh shares changed hands in 7,264,832 trades. The market capitalisation of NSE stood at Rs 11,527,588 crore.
