Nifty slips 19 pts on fresh profit-booking

The NSE 50-share Nifty dropped by 19 points today to close at 8,659.10 due to fresh selling, mainly in FMCG, realty, banking and auto sectors on the back of lower global cues.
The Nifty opened higher at 8,697.50 and hovered in a range of 8,698.75 and 8,636.70 before ending at 8,659.10, showing a loss of 18.80 points or 0.22 per cent.
It had gained by 157.50 points or 1.85 per cent yesterday.
Among the major indices, FMCG dropped by 1.38 per cent, followed by auto (0.57 per cent), realty (0.56 per cent), financial services (0.52 per cent), private bank (0.46 per cent) and bank (0.43 per cent).
Major losers were ITC (2.64 per cent), ICICI Bank (1.96 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (1.39 per cent), HUL (1.12 per cent) and Zee (1.12 per cent).
However, gainers were Idea (4.81 per cent), BHEL (3.71 per cent), Tata Power (3.17 per cent), Wipro (2.54 per cent) and Lupin (2.13 per cent).
A total of 942 scrips advanced, 701 declined while 82 closed unchanged.
Turnover in cash segment rose further to Rs 23,090.80 crore from Rs 21,930.94 crore yesterday. A total of 11,384.10 lakh shares changed hands in 8,894,469 trades. The market capitalisation of NSE stood at Rs 11,128,649 crore.
