Nifty snaps 3-day losing streak, recovers 11 pts

The NSE 50-share Nifty snapped its 3-day losing streak, recovering by 11.20 points to end at 8,708.80 ahead of inflation data amid strong European cues.
Investors opted for wait and watch policy as the focus next shifts to the earnings season after holidays, and monthly inflation data based on consumer price index for September is due on Thursday and wholesale price index on Friday.
The NSE Nifty opened higher at 8,735.35 and hovered in a range of 8,745.80 and 8,703.95 before ending at 8,708.80, showing a gain of 11.20 points or 0.13 per cent.
The nifty had dropped by 71.55 points or 0.82 per cent in previous three days.
Other indices like Nifty IT, Pharma, metal and FMCG ended higher.
Stock wise, the majors gainers were Tata Steel, ACC, Asian Paints, Cipla and Infratel, while the notable losers were Bank of Baroda, Reliance, NTPC, Bharti Airtel and Adani Ports.
