Nigerian among five held for drug peddling

A Nigerian national and four others were today arrested here for allegedly being involved in drug-peddling, police said.
Nwizu Nnaemeka, a Nigerian national, two persons from Bangalore John Peter and Syed Hameed and two city residents Rahul P Popat and Zubin were arrested by sleuths of Central Zone Task Force from Ranigunj area, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma told reporters.
Police seized 60 grams of Methaqualone powder and 40 Mescaline pills from their possession, which are party drugs, he said.
Nnaemeka alias Boy came to Bangalore on the pretext of doing garment business and indulged in supplying drugs to customers along with other accused, Sharma said, adding the Nigerian was procuring the drug from a Kenyan national, who is staying at Delhi.
The accused used to sell Methaqualone powder at Rs 4,000 per gram and each Mescaline pill was sold for Rs 1,500 to needy customers, he said.
"After getting orders, Nnaemeka and others used to supply the drugs to customers in Hyderabad and Bangalore. We will soon get in touch with Bangalore and Delhi police as part of further investigation into the case," he added.
