Nigerian central defender Chika Wali has recently signed for Mumbai FC, becoming the third foreign player after Japan's Taisuke Matsugae and Brazil's Josimar da Silva to play for the I-League club.
Wali has made over 100 appearances in the past seven years in the I-League. His previous clubs include two stints at Pune FC, Chirag United and Salgaocar.
On completing his signing the 26-year-old Wali said, "I am excited to play for Mumbai FC. I have heard a lot about the city and I know that the city is very passionate about football."
"The coach is building a very good squad. Also, I am aware that the club will be playing at it's home ground after a four-year hiatus which will really have a positive impact on our performances. It is a great opportunity and I'm looking forward to having a fantastic season here," he added.
Mumbai FC head coach Khalid Jamil is very happy to have added the 26-year-old Nigerian to his squad.
"He is a very important signing for us. Chika is a player with the character and dedication to do extremely well. He brings his powerful physique and athleticism to the game and is very strong in the air - a must for a central defender.
