Union Minister Nihalchand Meghwal, who has been summoned by a Jaipur court in connection with a rape case, today met people at Sujangarh here as part of Rajasthan government's programme to listen to people's grievances.
The Minister of State for Chemical and Fertiliser interacted with people at a camp in Sujangarh Panchayat Samiti of Bikaner division during the 'sarkar apke dwar' (government at your doorstep) programme, an official release said.
Under the programme, public hearings and Cabinet meetings are held at the divisional level to address people's grievances and take up development issues of the region.
The Union Minister, Sujangarh MLA Khemaram Meghwal and MNREGA Commissioner Sumit Sharma jointly heard the grievances of the public and directed officials to take up the complaints on a priority basis, the release said.
Some 45 counters of departments related to power, road, water, irrigation, canal area development, health and pension were set up at the camp where hundreds of villagers apprised the minister, MLA and officials of their problems, it said.
Nihalchand and 16 others were named in an FIR lodged by a 24-year-old married woman from Jaipur.
In the FIR filed in 2011, she alleged that he had sexually exploited her. The minister and the other accused have been asked by a Jaipur court to appear before it in connection with the case after a review petition was filed by the complainant.
Nihalchand is the only representative from Rajasthan in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's council of ministers.
