Nikhil Majotra adjudged best in devotional song competition

The eight-day long Navratra Festival in the holy town of Katra came to a musical end last evening with Nikhil Majotra of Jammu bagging the first prize in the mega final event of the devotional song competition, Rakesh Wazir, said here today.
Chaman Lehri of Reasi and Yasir Hussain of Jammu clinched second and third prizes respectively, he said.
Bollywood actor Aftab Shivdasani, Managing Director of Venus Records & Tapes Ltd, Ganesh Jain, Ramesh Taurani Managing Director Tips Industries among others were the judges of the mega final, Wazir said.
Special guests and winners of previous contests Mool Raj, Sanjeet Kumar, Sonali Dogra and Ravi Kumar also participated in the final event.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Tourism, G A Mir, who was also chief guest, complimented organisers.
He said that the annual festival is gaining prominence at national and even international level besides providing a platform to the budding artists to show their talent.
As a result, many artists especially the winners of previous All India Devotional Song Contest are proving their worth in the film industry also, he said.
