Wildlife SOS, that rescued the adult female nilgai, said the animal suffered head injuries and was left with a broken limb and horn due to the accident that happened yesterday morning.
"Traumatized by the accident and under immense pain, the nilgai was unable to move and had to be carefully lifted and transferred into an ambulance," the wildlife body said in a statement.
The Nilgai or Blue bull, protected under Schedule III of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, is the largest Asian antelope and is endemic to the Indian subcontinent.
The nilgai is currently under treatment and observation and will be released back into its natural habitat upon complete recovery, Seshamani said.
