Hospitals, where they worked, have also been expelled from the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna, Agrawal said, while replying to a query of Congress legislator Dharmjeet Singh yesterday.
Notably, the state health department had admitted in July that doctors removed some 1,800 uteruses illegally in the state since October 2010. It also stated that most of the surgeries were carried out to make money under various insurance schemes such as the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Agarwal also said that the department had not received any complaints about unwanted womb removal surgeries using smart cards.
However, taking cognisance of media reports, action was initiated against the errant doctors and nursing homes.
