Nine policemen booked for sending innocent people to jail
Press Trust of India Lucknow Nine policemen, including the then Senior Superintendent of Police Lucknow, have been booked for framing and sending innocent people to jail in connection with arson and vandalism at the at former UPPCC chief and MLA Rita Bahuguna Joshi's house, police said today.
IG (Admin) Prakash D told reporters here that an Inspector of CB-CID, who is probing into the arson at Joshi house on July 15, 2009, Mritunjaya Singh has yesterday lodged two separate cases against nine policemen, including the then SSP Prem Prakash, the then ASP Harish Kumar and Circle Officer B S Gabariyal.
He said that the cases have been lodged under different sections of the IPC.
It may be noted on the night of July 15, 2009 some persons vandalised and torched house of Joshi, for making alleged objectionable comment against BSP supremo Mayawati.
Two BSP leaders Jitendra Singh Babloo and Intizar Ahmad Abdi were detained in this connection.
