"There is a large number of pending civil and criminal cases in the state including cheque bounce cases awaiting disposal. It has been decided to set up nine special courts in major cities of the state to clear this huge backlog," Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain today said, adding, a directive has been issued to make available all infrastructural facilities at these courts.
Laptops, tablets, desktops and internet facilities will be made available to about 150 judicial and assistant prosecution officials at a cost of Rs two crore under a training programme meant to increase their efficiency, he added.
