Anju Sharma's postmortem report showed nine stab wounds on her body, leading to suspicions that she was stabbed to death and later her house was set afire to destroy evidence of her being killed, police said.

The postmortem was carried out after midnight last night at the instance of Pramod Gupta, former city president of the BJP, who suspected foul play and asked the acting District Magistrate P Srivastava to get an autopsy done.
Neighbours saw that the upper storey of the house had caught fire and informed her husband, elder son, the police and fire brigade, which took hours to douse the flames.
