Nine ultras held in C'garh

Nine naxals, including a woman, were arrested from separate places in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh today, police said.
While eight lower-rung ultras were picked from two places in Sukma district, another Maoist from Narayanpur district.
A senior police official said a joint team of the CRPF, the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the District Force spotted and nabbed Madvi Joga (26), Podiyami Deva (23), Podiyami Hunga (45), Kawasi Dokka (40) and the woman cadre Kumari Kawasi (20) during a search operation in the forests of Kukanar police station area.
The five were allegedly involved in assaulting and threatening villagers after holding jan-adalats (kangaroo courts) in Pandupara village forest last month, he said, adding taht they were also wanted in incidents of firing on police teams.
In another incident, Muchaki Pandu (25), Podiyam Hunga (26), and Podiyam Gutta (28) were arrested by a separate team of local police from Chintagufa police station area, he added.
Thetrio were allegedly involved in an incident of firing on security personnel in Tondmarka and Durma villages of Sukma on June 24 this year. Two DRG personnel and a Maoist were killed in that incident.
"All the eight ultras were active members of the janmilitia and DAKMS (Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangthan)- a frontal wing of Maoists," the officer said.
In the third incident, Maoist militia commander Dode Poyam (38) was nabbed from the forest near Aader village under Orchha police station limits (Narayanpur), he said, adding that a muzzle-loading gun was recovered from him.
