Two days after AICC admitted that the Congress's defeat in Odisha was mostly due to infighting, former Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik today sought an inquiry by the AICC into the alleged "cash for Congress ticket" in the state.
Patnaik said it was being discussed in the public that tickets were distributed during recently concluded general elections in return of money. "This has severely tainted the image of the party in public," he said.
"I would write to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) requesting to probe into the allegations of irregularities in party's tickets distribution in order to protect its image," Patnaik told PTI.
"If anybody is found to be guilty in distributing ticket for money, strict action need to be taken against the person(s) involved," Patnaik said.
If the matter is not true, Patnaik said "The AICC should condemn such disturbing matter.
