Over 100 delegates from 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) across the country participated in which the experts identified governance, academic design and ecosystem as key issues for the growth of the institutions.
"Governance, academic design and delivery mechanisms, and eco-system for generation of knowledge, innovation and entrepreneurship are three significant issues that play a major role in the growth of the NIT system and to overcome all these challenges, we have to be concerned about good teaching," Prof I K Bhatt, Director of Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT)-Jaipur said in his address.
Prof D P Agarwal, former Chairman of UPSC, suggested that institutions to design curricular should give more industry exposure to the students.
"Some of the courses should be kept for self-studies and faculties should play the role of mentor," he said.
Parallel sessions on reforms required in institutional governance in NITs, developing eco-system of research, innovation and entrepreneurship were also organised on the first day, which was attended by concerned deans and directors of NITs.
