Soon after receiving the award, Kumar made a fervent appeal for anti-liquor movement across the country.
The Chief Minister was bestowed with the award by prominent Jain priest Acharya Mahashraman jee here. Bihar Governor Ramnath Kovind was present on the occasion.
The Anuvrata Puruskar was given by Jain Swetambhar Terapanth Dharma Sangh Anuvrata Mahasamiti. The award has been given in the past to former President Shankar Dayal Sharma, former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and former Prime Minister Gulzari Lal Nanda.
The Chief Minister counted virtues of the decision in improving the social climate in the state, particularly in rural areas and also in cutting down the crime rate.
