The Centre and the state government has prepared comprehensive plans to protect Ganga flowing through Bihar and other states, besides launching an awareness campaign among the people for protection of the animal, he told reporters here.
The plans for protection of dolphins will be deemed as successful only if it helped in raising the numbers of the fresh water animal, Kumar said.
The chief minister said that the National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) too has been working for conservation and protection of dolphins and it was imperative that the pollution in water of the holy river should be prevented.
"We all are aware about the state of pollution in the water of river Ganga," he said and urged for collective effort in this regard.
