Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the completion of four years of his rule and expressed confidence that his government would live up to the expectations of the people of the country.
"Congratulations to honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the completion of four years of his government. I believe the government will come up to the expectations of the people," the JD(U) chief tweeted in Hindi.
Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, on the other hand described the four years of the Modi government as low on development and high on propaganda.
"Chaar Saal Modi Sarkaar, Sasta Vikaas Mahangaa Prachaar," read the first two lines of a verse posted by the RJD leader on his Twitter handle, wherein he blamed the Centre for atrocities against women and Dalits, unemployment and social tensions and accused it of being arrogant and dictatorial.
The state unit of the Congress party took out a "Vishwasghat Yatra" here as part of its countrywide "Vishwasghat Divas" programme and alleged that the Modi government had failed to live up to its promises and betrayed the people's trust.
Senior state Congress leaders, including the working president of the party's Bihar unit, Kaukab Qadri, took part in the protest march, riding cycle-rickshaws.
"We want to point out that the people are finding it increasingly difficult to use their vehicles because of the spiralling petrol and diesel prices," Qadri said.
