The bridge will be built on Falgu river between Gaya and Manpura at an estimated cost of Rs 64.51 crores.
Speaking on the occasion, Kumar directed the Bridge Construction Corporation to ensure completion of the bridge project before its schedule date March-April 2015.
The construction of the proposed six-lane bridge is to begin from November 2012, he said.
Kumar said that the state government had to work hard to obtain sanction from the Union Surface Transport ministry as it had raised several objections earlier about it, but in the end he succeeded in convincing the Union Minister C P Joshi to grant clearance to the project.
