Nitish reviews flood preparations

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today instructed officials to identify pilgrims still missing in Uttarakhand and help them reach home safely.
Kumar directed to widely advertise controlrooms set up in the districts for families to contact their members in the Himalayan state, an official statement said here.
At a video conference with district magistrates, the chief minister told them that during floods people should be informed about the latest situation each day and that complaints should be acted on promptly.
He instructed that the latest manual on flood relief should be send to all districts for making preparations beforehand.
Principal Secretary Disaster Management Vyasji made a power point presentation and informed Kumar that all districts have been directed to identify areas prone to floods and people staying there in advance and to book boats.
Generators, petromaxes, tents and sacks should be arranged in advance in flood-prone areas.
Kumar ordered officials to inspect bridges for cracks and to repair them and also identify high ground where people could be sheltered.
There should also be provision for medical facilities.
