Official sources said during a telephonic conversation, Kumar informed Jena about scarcity of urea in Bihar and urged him to intervene to ensure its availability for distribution among the farmers.
The Union Minister assured the Chief Minister that he would look into the matter and ensure supply of urea as per the need of the farmers of Bihar.
There has been a shortage of 1.96 lakh metric tonne o urea in the state in July/August this year due to supply of only 5.94 lakh metric tonnes as against requirement of 7.90 lakh metric tonnes, sources said.
The Chief Minister has directed the officials to ensure allotment and distribution of urea throughout the state keeping in view coverage of crops and ensure supervision of the supply of the material so that the farmers should have not any difficulty in procuring the same.
