NJWB gives pension, health insurance to Odisha scribes

National Journalist Welfare Board, Odisha, distributed pensions to 17 journalists above 65 years of age and health insurance for all accredited journalists in the state as part of the National Press Day.
The pensions and health insurance were given to the beneficiaries at a function here yesterday which was attended by Sunil Sashtri, acting chairperson of Odisha Human Rights Commission Justice B K mishra and others.
While the senior journalists were given Rs 500 per month as pension, other scribes would be given health insurance worth Rs 25,000 per year, said NJWB's vice-president Pradumnya Mohanty.
The National Press Day was observed here jointly by NJWB, directorate of field publicity, AIR, Cuttack, DDK, Bhubaneswar and Amit College.
Addressing the gathering, Sunil Sashtri called upon journalists to report news for the overall development of the society. He said the reporters should not stop working to achieve their goals due to difficult situations.
Justice Mishra asked journalists not to sensatioanlise news for increasing circulation or TRP.
