NLC shares: Jayalalithaa thanks PM

In a rare appreciative gesture, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who has been hitting out at the UPA government over various issues, today spoke to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and thanked him for his intervention in the Centre's decision to accept her offer to buy NLC shares.
"The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister over phone and said his intervention in the issue has brought about a satisfactory agreement," an official release said here.
The AIADMK supremo also referred to Singh about her appeal to striking workers of NLC and expressed the hope they would return to work soon, it said.

The Prime Minister congratulated and thanked Jayalalithaa for her efforts to find a solution to the issue and said he always maintained harmonius relations with state governments, it said.
The Centre and market regulator SEBI today gave their nod to the state government's proposal to buy the disinvested shares.
Jayalalithaa has been highly critical of UPA Government and the Prime Minister over issues including petroleum products price rise, reecurring attack on Tamil Nadu fishermen allegedly by Sri Lankan Naval personnel. She has also accused the Congress-led government of meteing out step-motherly treatment to states ruled by opposition parties.
