The students, who had boycotted classes and were on a sit-in protest on the NLIU premises, ended their stir a day after their delegation held talks with Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court, Hemant Gupta, in Jabalpur, over their demands.
CJ Gupta told the delegation that that the process of appointing a new director for the prestigious law institute shall be expedited, a student said.
The Chief Justice also appointed Giribala Singh, Additional and Sessions Judge, Bhopal as the Registrar of NLIU with effect from November 16, the minutes of the meeting said.
During their sit-in, the students had also demanded appointment of a registrar in NLIU.
The students have been demanding Singh's removal for "harassment" and for making "objectionable remarks against female students". However, Singh has called these charges "baseless".
