"The new initiative that has been taken by the Prime Minister, I believe that there cannot be a better homage to our revered Bapu on October 2," Shah said.
The BJP chief said governments and political parties have never focussed on such issues in the past and make people's movements out of them and applauded the new initiative taken by the Prime Minister.
"Now a new start has been made. This new initiative by the Prime Minister on cleanliness and on Clean Ganga campaign be turned into a people's movement. We are need to get together to make them successful," he said while making a fervent appeal to people.
He also lauded Modi's initiative in appealing to all social and religious organisations, citizens and all political groups to make this campaign a people's movement and help build a clean India by 2019.
The Prime Minister had launched the "Swachh Bharat" campaign today at a function near India Gate and pledged to make India clean.
