No Bru tribal appears for repatriation at Asapara relief camp
Press Trust of India Aizawl Not a single Bru appeared before the Mizoram government officials for identification as bona-fide residents of the state at the Asapara relief camp in North Tripura on the first day for identification at the camp today, additional secretary for Home Lalbiakzama said.
Any Bru who comes forward and identifies as the resident of Mizoram, would be repatriated to Mizoram from Monday next, Lalbiakzama said.
The identification process would continue till Thursday next in the Asapara relief camp, which housed 895 Bru families, he said.
Repatriation process of around 3,455 Bru families from six relief camps in North Tripura commenced from June 2 in accordance with the Road Map-IV for Bru Repatriation, which was scheduled to continue till September 4.
Not a single Bru has come forward for identification and to be repatriated till date even after the officials conducted verification at three camps - Kaskau, Khakchangpara and Hamsapara.
