Additional Secretary for Home, Mizoram, Lalbiakzama told PTI that while none appeared before the authorities at the camp during the day, six people belonging to two families came forward on the first day of verification yesterday.
The six persons were the only Brus to have turned up so far for identification to be repatriated to Mizoram since the repatriation process, as per the Road Map-IV, commenced from June 2, he said.
The apex court had instructed the centre and the state governments of Mizoram and Tripura to repatriate all the Brus lodged in the six relief camps in Tripura within six months.
Around 11,440 people belonging to 3,455 Bru families were proposed to be repatriated during the last round of repatriation, he said adding that a total number of 8,573 belonging to 1,622 families have returned during the official efforts made to repatriate them and also by self-repatriation till date.
