"We cannot compromise on tiger protection and we have to find a way out for tourism and tiger protection happening simultaneously," Sahay told reporters here on the sidelines of an ICC organised tourism seminar.

He said that tigers were not disturbed by tourists, but by poachers.

The Supreme Court has recently banned all tourism activities in core areas of tiger reserves.

Sahay said that he was in touch with the concerned ministry and was waiting for the August 22 hearing.

The minister said he aimed to double inbound tourists in the next plan period.

He also welcomed the move of West Bengal and Orissa to engage consultants for preparing mega tourism destinations.

"I have so far not received any DPR from West Bengal. I urge the minister to send us projects," Sahay said.

He also offered to make West Bengal a theme state in the London roadshow.
