"The culprits must certainly be booked as per law of the land. We have nothing to do with them and have never had anything to do with them," TMC national spokesperson Derek O'Brien said in a statement.
Opposition CPI(M) had yesterday alleged that police was reluctant to take action in the matter because of the proximity of the accused with the ruling party.
"His father is a minor political activist elected to the state assembly with Left Front support in 2006. Neither the alleged driver of the car, nor his father has ever attended formal, committee or organisational meetings of TMC.
"Neither of them has ever been appointed to a post or got a letter to this effect from the party," he said.
