Devotees from across the country will not be allowed to pay a visit to the Ramanathaswamy temple here for five days starting from January 16 as a yagasala pooja will be held during the period prior to the consecration ceremony on January 20.
Joint commissioner and Executive officer of the temple S Selvaraj said the celestial wedding of Lord Ramanathaswamy with Goddess Parvathawarthini would be held on January 20.
Pilgrims would not be allowed to take bath in the 22 'theerthams' (holy wells) inside the temple that day.
From January 21, worship of deities and taking of holy bath would be allowed, he said.
Tight security would be provided for the ceremony with 1,000 police personnel being deployed in the island.
