Playing down the issue of chief ministerial candidate in Assembly poll-bound Bihar, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi today said there was no dearth of leadership in the NDA and he will abide by what the party decides.
"There are several persons in BJP and the allies - who are more capable than me... No dearth of leadership in the party. I will abide by whatever is decided," the former deputy chief minister said.
Modi was speaking while sharing the dais with NDA ally Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief and Union Minister for Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan at 'Hindustan Samagam' programme, organised by a vernacular daily.
Paswan has already ruled himself and his party out from the race for the top post, but another NDA ally Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) has declared its national President and Union Minister Updendra Kushwaha as their chief ministerial candidate, and was pressing that the NDA should also nominate him.
Speaking further on the occasion, Modi said he did not believe that he was "the most capable person and has left it on the party to decide."
Asked about Kushwaha's candidature, he pointed out that under a democratic set-up all parties have the right to claim and said: "Still, no meeting of NDA has been held over the
Issue. We all will meet together, discuss everything and take a decision on the candidature. This is an alliance."

Reacting to the claim on candidature of former Union minister and BJP vice-president C P Thakur, Modi said he has a right to do so and "whoever becomes the CM will be acceptable" to him (Sushil Modi).
Modi, who is considered the tallest leader in the state BJP, ended the discussion over the candidature issue saying his political birth was in the saffron party with whom he will stay till the last breath.
"I am a sepoy of the party and whatever it decides, I will abide by it," Modi added.
