"No decision has been taken for a full scale military operation in North Waziristan and there was no decision to call off the dialogue process (with the Taliban), nor has any such demand been made from either side," Khan said.
He said that recent air attacks and military action in the troubled region was part of policy to retaliate against attacks by Taliban.
Khan also said that there was no decision to hand over security of major urban cities to the army.
Security forces have killed more than 80 militants during this week attacks at the rebels' positions in North Waziristan.
Some private media has speculated that it was beginning of long-awaited military operation which the US has long demanded but Pakistan delayed, saying that the forces were already stretched out.
