Haryana government today said a three-member committee is currently studying various aspects of simplifying house tax rates, but no decision has been taken yet on the issue.
Haryana Public Work (Buildings and Roads) minister Randeep Singh Surjewala said the committee constituted under his chairmanship has received views of different organisations and was meeting delegations with regard to house tax.
Amid protests on calculation of house tax, the state government had decided not to recover tax on commercial and residential properties and had formed a committee for rationalisation of house tax rates.
Property owners had alleged that under the new tax formula, they were made to pay twice the amount they used to pay earlier.
