No evidence against NCP MLA accused of rape, cops tell court
Press Trust of India Mumbai Mumbai police have filed a report before a magistrate's court here saying that they did not find any evidence against NCP MLA Laxman Dhobale who is facing a case of rape.
"Yes, we have filed a B-summary report," a police official said.
A 'B-summary' report is filed when police find no evidence in connection with a criminal case they are investigating.
Dhobale's lawyer Ashok Sarogi said the court will now hear arguments on the police report (to decide whether it should be accepted).
In 2014, police filed a case against Dhobale after a 42-year-old woman accused him of sexually abusing her repeatedly.
The legislator from Solapur, a former state minister, was booked under IPC sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) by the suburban Borivali police here.
