Goa Vikas Party MLA Fransisco Miccky Pacheco today said he was ready to buy 25 per cent stake in FC Goa football club as its ownership has gone to a person who is not from the state.
"I am ready to take 25 per cent stake in FC Goa club. After Jaydev Mody taking over the majority stake, Goa is (left) only in the name of the club. Ownership has gone outside Goa," Pacheco said, speaking on the demand for grants of the state sports department in the Assembly.
Pacheco, who once owned Franca Sports Club, said that FC Goa's earlier owners Dattaraj Salgaoncar and Srinivas Dempo had sold their stakes to Mody.
Mody, chairman of Delta Corp, had bought the 65 per cent stake jointly held by Salgaocar and Dempo in the FC Goa football team.
"Goan football is finished. The families like Salgaoncar and Dempo had been mentoring the football clubs in Goa. They have also given up now. There is something wrong in the policy of All India Football Federation (AIFF)," the Nuvem MLA said.
"The Indian Super League (ISL) has eight teams, of which five are owned by Ambani and one by Mody. It will be all game fixing now andpeople would be fooled," he said.

The MLA also termed the ISL as a money-making racket.
The Goa Government should intervene and force the FC Goa owners to sell 25 per cent stake to a Goan, he demanded.
Congress MLA and former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat backed Pacheco. "If you are using the name FC Goa, then Goans should have the stake. Goans will cheer the team during the tournament, but they will have no stake in it. There should be some solution for this," he said.
FC Goa, the runner-up of ISL 2, was in trouble recently when ISL's regulatory committee imposed a penalty of Rs 12 crore on it for not attending the prize distribution ceremony after they lost the final against Chennaiyin FC last year.
