There is no government proposal to carry out audit of autonomous institutions, trusts and boards that have huge financial assets, Lok Sabha was informed today.
In a written reply, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal said these institutions are audited as per provisions of the respective Acts governing them.
To a query on whether the government proposes to conduct audit of autonomous institutions/trusts and BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), ICAI, ICWAI and other such boards which have huge financial assets, he replied in the negative.
"There is no proposal for amendment of the Companies Act, 2013 or the two acts governing ICAI and ICWAI, respectively.
"Similarly, Tamil Nadu State government has also not specified that any amendment would be carried out in the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act under which BCCI is registered," Meghwal said.
ICAI and ICWAI are the apex bodies for chartered accountants and cost accountants, respectively.
