There are "no grave differences" between the students' union and administration of Jawaharlal Nehru University, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
However, "there are a few conceptual differences which can be resolved amicably through dialogue and discussions", Minister of State for Human Resource Development Mahendra Nath Pandey said in reply to a question in Lok Sabha.
"The university administration holds meetings with the students' union on various issues from time to time," he added.
The then President of JNU Students' Union Kanhaiya Kumar, was arrested earlier this year on charges of sedition following a scuffle at an event hosted to mark the death anniversary of Afzal Guru.
This led to a massive protest lasting several months by the students and teachers against the administration for allowing the police in the varsity campus.
Students were again pitted against the administration after a student, Najeeb Ahmed, went missing nearly two months ago. The students alleged inaction and confined the Vice Chancellor of the university and other senior officials in the administrative building for over 20 hours.
