US House of Representative Speaker John Boehner has said the Republican Party would not take up the immigration reform bill this year, in a major blow to the chances of a comprehensive immigration reform.

The move has given more breathing ground for Indian companies who see this as an opportunity and an additional time to convince the lawmakers about the need to do away with the certain provisions of the bill, which if implemented would make adverse impact on their businesses.

"Frankly, I'll make clear, we have no intention of ever going to conference on the Senate bill," Boehner told reporters Wednesday morning, thus dealing a setback to the proponents of the immigration reform.

The US Senate has already passed the bill and now it was House's term to pass it make it into law.

His own party colleague Mario Diaz-Balart said that Boehner should reconsider ruling out a potential conference on immigration.

"I urge Speaker Boehner to remain open to any options that allow us to solve this crucial issue. It has been said time and time again that our immigration system is broken, and we must come together to find a sensible solution to fix it," he said.
