Ravenshaw University here has decided to get rid of the self-financing courses, that were hitherto running under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode, from the current academic year.
Henceforth, the courses like ITM, BBA, JMC, IST, ETC and HHA would be run by the university itself from this (2014-2015) academic year, university registrar P K Jena said in a release here today.
Two private organisations were running these courses for over a decade.
Jena in the release has pointed out that University Grants Commission (UGC) in November, last year had categorically instructed all universities not to run these courses with private participation.
"Accordingly, the State Governor, who is also the chancellor of Ravenshaw University, had also asked our vice chancellor to adhere to the UGC guideline of November 2013", Jena said.
Jena further said that recently a local court, while adjudicating over a case, had authorised the Ravenshaw University to run such courses independently.
In view of such developments, the University vice chancellor has decided to run these courses of its own from this academic year and accordingly a notification to this effect was issued earlier.
"But with obvious intentions, some self-centred parties have come out with confusing advertisements and are trying to create disturbances inside the campus", Jena said in the release, urging the students and parents not to get carried away with such advertisements.
