There is no one to take decision about industry and investment in Goa except Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, industry representatives today said.
"There is no one (else) to take decisions. We have Commissioner for NRI for Goa but we don't have Commissioner for businesses. We need an ambassador for industries," former President of Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Nitin Cuncolienkar also said while speaking in the seminar 'Looking Forward to Industrial Growth through a new Investment Policy'.
"Industries secretary hardly ever visits the industrial estates," he said, adding that the Industrial Development Corporation has lost some relevance.
"Unfortunately, even the industry players are not raising the voice against this," he said.
Talking about the poor investment flow, Manoj Kamat, economist, said in 2011-12 there were 400 proposals worth Rs 600 crore. However, only 67 materialised, bringing in investment of Rs 37 crore, he said.
High Powered Coordination Committee which clears big-ticket investments had 21 proposals before it, but only five materialised.
