Bhattacharya accused the state government of forcing the State Election Commission to go to the court on the issue.
"It is the state government which has forced the SEC to move the court. The SEC is absolutely right that election can't be held in Bengal without the supervision of central forces," the state Congress President said addressing a youth congress rally.
The SEC on April 16 had submitted in the Calcutta High Court that law and order was not as good as was being claimed by the state government and insisted on deployment of 800 companies of central paramilitary forces.
