Haryana Transport Minister Aftab Ahmed has said there was no proposal to increase bus fares in the state.
Speaking to reporters after presiding over a review meeting of Haryana Roadways here today, the minister said the state government was providing comfortable transport services to the people with its fleet of 4,025 buses.
Transport facilities in the rural areas have also been ensured by the government. Apart from this, free or concessional travel facility is given to senior citizens, women and girl students.
Earlier, while reviewing transport services, the minister directed the General Managers of Haryana Roadways to ensure plying of buses on all routes and post traffic managers at roadways sub-depots.
The Principal Secretary Transport, R R Jowel, directed the General Managers to rationalise the routes of buses to ensure better services to the people.
Steps should be taken to ensure that buses plied between 6 AM and 8 PM on normal routes. Later while presiding over a meeting of the Regional Transport Authorities, the minister directed them to effectively monitor inter-state transport vehicles plying without permit.
Transport Commissioner Sumita Misra told the minister that the department had collected Rs 1,094.85 crore as revenue during 2013-14 against the target of Rs 850 crore, which is 128.97 per cent of the target.
