"What a person should eat or what he should wear, what he should sing ... Are all matters of his freedom, independent choice. Everyone in this country has the equal right to profess things of his choice," the Trinamool Congress supremo told reporters at the city airport here.
Replying to queries on alleged incidents of creating disturbance and encroaching on individual freedom, Banerjee said she condemned them.
Asserting that West Bengal always stood for unity and amity among all sections of people, Banerjee said, "If anyone is trying to foment trouble (in the country) that is not the right thing."
Hinting those who rake up such issues don't want development of the country, Banerjee said, "Had there been the issue of development before them (such elements) they won't have resorted to such tactics."

Banerjee left for North Bengal for a slew of programmes in the next three days.
She would be attending a meeting at Jaigaon, on Indo-Bhutan border on Nov 3. The CM said it will be attended by a big delegation from Bhutan including their ministers.
Stressing that she believed in regularly monitoring projects in north Bengal, Banerjee said, "I do hold meetings in every three-four months in different places of North Bengal. My programmes will start from today itself after we reach Bagdogra airport near Siliguri.
