Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu today said there is no politics involved in the Cabinet decision to regularise 1,939 unauthorised colonies in Delhi as about 60 lakh poor people will be benefiting out of it.
The Cabinet decision to regularise unauthorised colonies is a significant pro-poor step since several lakh people coming from all over the country are living in these places, he said after releasing the 2015 calender of the ministry here.
Taking on the Opposition for criticising the cabinet's regularisation decision, Naidu said, "instead of welcoming such a big decision, Congress and AAP are condemning it. Since they could not do so and we did it within six months of coming to power. We did it after consulting all stakeholders."
Naidu said, "perhaps they are regretting that why they could not do it and that is why they are opposing."
"There is no politics involved in it. If you could do any good then you will get benefit out of it," he added.
He cited many decisions being taken by the government for the benefit of people of Delhi which include conversion of Nazrul land from leasehold to freehold, abolition of Chullah tax, simplification of building bye-laws among others.
