No power hike for domestic category in Haryana

Domestic category consumers have been spared from tariff hike in Haryana as state power regulator HERC has not raised rates for this segment in its new tariff order for 2014-15.
However, Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has raised power rates for non-domestic and industrial category.
"There is no increase in power tariff for domestic category," HERC Chairman R N Prasher said here today.
Prasher said the power tariff has been raised for non- domestic and industrial category.
"We have raised tariff for non-domestic category like commercial establishments and shops having electricity load of more than 20 KW by 0.50 paise per unit. There is no hike in power tariff in case of non-domestic category having power load of less than 20 KW," he said.
"In case of industrial category, power tariff has been raised by 0.50 paise per unit," he further said.

As per 2013-14 power tariff, consumers of non-domestic category was paying power tariff at a rate ranging between Rs 5.85 per unit and Rs 6.10 per unit depending upon power capacity.
In addition to it, consumers having connected load of more than 20 KW were being charged fixed amount of Rs 150 per kw to Rs 160 kw.
In case of industrial segment, the power rates for HT industry (more than 50 kw connection) were ranging between Rs 4.85 per unit to 5.30 per unit as energy charges, apart from monthly fixed charge of Rs 150 per kVA.
LT Industrial category having connected load of up to 50 KW were paying energy charges of up to Rs 6.10 per unit.
Notably, Bhupinder Singh Hooda led-Haryana government in the month of January this year had given major relief to power consumers by reducing power tariff.
The state government had then rolled back power tariff hike for consumption of up to 500 units by domestic consumers and cut down tariff for farm sector by 60 per cent for 2013-14.
It had put financial burden of Rs 600 crore on state exchequer.
Moreover, the Fuel Surcharge Adjustment (FSA) of 34 paise per unit levied from July 1, 2013, was also withdrawn with effect from January 1, 2014, for consumers consuming up to 1,000 units bi-monthly.
The state government had also reduced tariff being charged to agriculture consumers by 60 per cent to 0.10 paise per unit from 0.25 paise per unit.
Notably, the Haryana government had also decided not to hike power tariff for 2014-15.
